Hale-Bopp, seen from Savoie, France

Hale-Bopp appeared in Spring 1997 in all its glory. It truly was a spectacular sight. This photo was taken from the side of a mountain road in Savoie, France, at about 1,500m altitude. No moon, thinner atmosphere than at ground level, and no light pollution made for a good photo.
